Ceremony and reception spaces
Fairchild names its ceremony sites: Bailey Palm Glade, the GCA Amphitheater, Cycad Vista Lawn, the Palmetum, the Allee and Overlook Vista, the Arboretum, the Ellipse Mosaic Patio, Phillips Courtyard and the Sibley Amazonica Pool, with the Garden House Lawn and the Arts Center also available. Daytime ceremonies are scheduled for two hours during Garden hours, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Reception packages are six-hour events at the Garden House and Lawn (a 1949 building with French doors, terrazzo floors and a Fountain Court with a lily pond and original Chihuly art), the Rose-McQuillan Arts Center, the Lakeside Marquee on Pandanus Lake, or the Glasshouse Cafe. The Garden House, Arts Center and Marquee packages include a one-hour guided photo session with the couple. Fairchild may host more than one event at a time.
Rules that shape your photos and film
Drones, personal or professional, are not permitted in the Garden. Video here is ground-based. Every vendor, photographers and videographers included, is pre-approved by Fairchild and carries insurance, and a vendor new to Fairchild schedules a site visit 30 days before the event. Ceremonies need a professional day-of coordinator and reception packages a month-of coordinator. Petals, confetti, glitter, birdseed and rice are not allowed, and ceremony areas cannot be roped off.
For a portrait or engagement session outside your wedding, Fairchild requires a permit, booked 7 to 10 days ahead with no walk-ins, for sessions between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Light
The Arboretum's canopy gives soft, dappled light, the kindest light in Miami at midday, while Bailey Palm Glade opens onto water and sky for the end of the day.
