Evening weddings

Evening rentals run 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with extensions available to midnight Sunday through Thursday and to 1:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Ceremonies happen in the gardens or the Main House Courtyard; cocktails can be in the Courtyard, the gardens or on the terraces overlooking the bay. Receptions of 100 or fewer can be held in the Main House; the East Terrace seats up to 300 and needs a tent for larger guest counts (confirm the exact threshold with Vizcaya). Vizcaya does not host events over 300 guests.

Setup starts at 3:00 p.m. on the upper East Terrace, 4:00 p.m. in the gardens and 5:15 p.m. in the Courtyard. Evening events use caterers, planners and rentals from Vizcaya's approved lists, which Vizcaya posts each year. Photographers and videographers are not on those lists.

Daytime garden ceremonies

A separate, smaller program: up to 50 people, gardens only, with no Main House access, Wednesday through Monday between 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The Tea House on the bay holds up to 15, the Garden Mound up to 50, and the Rose Garden centers on the Sutri Fountain. One detail couples miss: your photographer, videographer and other vendors count toward the 50. There are no chairs, canopies or runners, and no food or drink. A planner is not required, though Vizcaya recommends a day-of coordinator.

Portraits and the photography permit

Vizcaya requires a photography permit when a group meets two of six conditions, and special occasion attire, including a wedding gown, counts as one. So a portrait session outside your event needs a permit. A garden permit covers up to five people, photographer and assistants included. An Indoor Premium plus Garden permit adds the Main Stairs, Courtyard and loggias, with entry at 8:00 a.m. and indoor photography from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. only. Permits book about four to six weeks out, and sold-out days allow no photography.

Groups yield to visitors and never block paths or gates, and wagons and carts are not allowed. The stained glass window at the top of the main staircase is covered until further notice; photos on the staircase are still allowed.

Light and drone

The estate faces the bay, so the terraces are bright and often windy, and the best light is early morning and the last hour before sunset. Vizcaya's pages say nothing about drones, so plan without one unless Vizcaya approves it in writing.

How LIB works at Vizcaya

Two photographers or two videographers from our team on every collection, and one coordinated team when you book both. We plan coverage with you and your planner around Vizcaya's setup windows, the light and the permit rules, so the day runs inside them.

Collections

Wedding photo and video collections begin at $6,000, with full photo and video collections beginning at $10,000. See the collections or read about weddings in Miami.
